Meeting Minutes 09-13-2022
PHS Band And Orchestra Meeting - September 13th, 2022 - Held in Ruth Street Theater upstairs lounge. Meeting called to order by Jennifer Whittemore at 12:27pm
Attendance: Jennifer Whittemore (Band Booster President), Tania Higgins (Vice President), Leslie Schuster (Secretary), Karrie Tuthill (Member at Large), Tracey Rainey(Festival Coordinator), Jason Taurins(Band Director)
Approval of August Meeting Minutes: First motion to approve August minutes made by Tania, second motion to approve minutes made by Karrie. All in favor, none opposed.
Mile High Festival: September 24th, 2022 Band kids can help with set up and tear down. Tracey and Tania set up the parking for the day of the event. School parking is for the spectators and we have approval from the doctors office across the street to use that lot. Programs are almost complete. Packets will be put together for the band directors and judges by Tracey and Tania. Set up starts at 10am. Tracey will arrive at 8am. Band kids will help set up from 10am-2pm. Band kids will also need to stay for tear down and clean up. EZ ups will need to be set up in the press box for the judges. We will have 9 judges. Jennifer will run concessions because she has a food handler card. ABODA frowns on air grams as they can be distracting during the festival. Tracey and Tania are leaning towards not having them to appease the judges. Jason and Jennifer will give out the awards and Tracey will cover the concessions area at this time. If we don't get any donations of water, we will be paying for it. Lowes has donated in the past but can not this year. We will reach out to Coke-a Cola for water donations. Tracey, Tania, and Jason will do the shopping at Costco for the event.

Band warm up time 5pm in the North Lot

Northern Arizona University Band Day: October 22nd, 2022
Time Line for the day: Call time 7am

Lunch 2pm (kids should also bring money for the concession stand)

Disneyland Trip: Maybe After Spring Break? Need to ask permission from the school. Someone should attend the school board meeting in early November to discuss the Disney trip. We have almost enough students to participate in the marching band parade. We need a minimum of 40 students playing instruments. If that doesn't work, there are soundtrack sessions that are 20 students minimum that we can participate in. Looking at a two or three day pass for the park. We need to check on when Disney has availability. Need to check on pricing for the trip as we get closer. Tax credit can be used for the trip. Chaperones will have to pay their own way for the trip.
Band Trailer Update: Looking for a large one ton truck to pull the trailer. Small band trailer is not equipped to store the instruments like the big trailer. We can possibly rent a U-Haul truck to transport the instruments. We can also utilize the space under the bus.
Bank has all three signers on the Band Booster bank account.

Pizza Cards: Cost of the card is 10 dollars. Kids will get 9 dollars profit. We will pass out 10 at a time. Jason will check out the cards to the kids. Kids are responsible for turning in the money for the cards. September 26th will be the start date. All cards back by the 27th-28th. We should have some incentive for the highest sellers of the cards. We also have a possible fundraiser at Mc Donalds on October 20th. We are waiting to hear back for confirmation.
Booster Parent T-Shirt: New T-shirts are needed. Tania and Jennifer will meet and pick a design for the new shirts.
Car Wash: Car wash this Saturday starting at 9:30am.. Kids will meet at the school at 9am and head over to the Cal Ranch parking lot to set up for a 9:30 start time. Car wash is advertised in the paper. Signs need to be made. We are asking for a 10 dollar donation. We need to double check on supplies before Saturday. Kids should wear their class shirts if possible.
213 dollars was raised from the selling of magnets and pizza cards and donations at the September 2nd, 2022 football game..
