Meeting Minutes 02-06-2024

Meeting called to order at 12:36pm

In attendance: Jennifer Whittemore (President), Tania Higgins (Vice President), Jennifer Lacey (Vice

President), Lani Pierie (Treasurer), and Dr. Audis (Director)

Leslie Schuster (Secretary) unable to attend, Lani Pierie took the minutes.

Tania motioned to approve January 9, 2024 meeting minutes and January treasurer report, Jennifer Lacey seconded, unanimously approved.

Director:

Dr. Audis announced his desire for students in our music program to become involved in Tri-M which is a music honor society. This will provide leadership, community service, and fundraising opportunities for the students.

One community service/outreach opportunity mentioned was performances in retirement/assisted living

facilities.

Dr. Audis requested that the boosters pay for the students’ tickets for the NAU Jazz Festival ($15/ticket x 14 students = $210). The boosters agreed to pay and take from the student clinic portion of the budget.

Another request is for the boosters to pay for a marching band podium. Dr. Audis has found a used one in Phoenix for $2,766. Boosters agreed to pay. Money will be taken from the remainder of the marching band budget and the director’s convention fee budget.

More instruments will need to be repaired. Dr. Audis would like to use Agave Music in Phoenix. Will send for repairs at the end of the school year in May.

Fundraising:

Chipotle restaurant night raised $140.

Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction is February 22, 2024. We have at least 30 auction items thus far. Lani is to organize auction items and bid sheets and set up the day of the event. Tania is purchasing the food items, Jennifer will be picking up salads and bread sticks from Olive Garden. It looks like we are doing well with signups for the event and will have help from students in band and other groups on campus in need of community service hours.

Chocolate bar sales are running the month of February. Students have been selling boxes and the boosters have been selling at lunchtime.

Grants:

Parents who agreed to work on writing grants have not followed through. However, Lisa Dauchenhausen

reached out to the James Family Foundation and secured a grant for $5,409.59, specifically for the purchase of an Eastman Baritone Saxophone from Milano Music.

Other Business:

Benefit concert to take place on March 25th. Dr. Audis wants it to be “open to the public.” At our next meeting we need to discuss how we will raise money at the event (donations, ticket sales?) as well as if we should have a snack bar. Also need to further discuss advertising beyond the paper (has been notified).

Jennifer asked the board to assure we are communicating with each other, so as not to repeat tasks.

Next meeting will be March 5, 2024 at 12:30pm.

Meeting adjourned at 1:15pm.
